Miss Susan Vincent gained GCSE A * in Statistics at the age of 13, in August 2004 at St. Angela’s School, Forest Gate. She will be doing her GCSEs in August 2007. We wish her to achieve top grades for Newham. Her father Mr Sunil Vincent from Kackottumoola and mother Mrs Sunitha Vincent from Pulichara are residents of East Ham.

Newham Community and Police Forum Meeting – A question was asked relating to tickets at East Ham station and the British Transport Police and Transport for London to combat ticket touts at a number of Newham stations including Stratford, Canning Town and Plaistow.
Some members noted that there are a number of people (some from continental Europe) who driving cars without appropriate insurance. When they had accident, then went back to own their country and the other person involved in the accident had no redress the problem. They wanted to know how the police dealt with this situation. Mr. Johnson, the Police supernatant stated that they worked with the Anti-Social Behaviour team on foreign plated cars. However, he noted that while police could apply for extradition, the penalty the person would generally receive made the costs involved in extradition unworthily.

Newham Crime and Disorder Audit were presented by Chief Inspector Paul Morris, in the public meeting at the Town Hall, East Ham.

Newham Community and Police Forum will be requesting the London Transport to provide the Transport Police a special room at the East Ham station to deal with ticket touts problems.

East Ham community Forum Steering Group set up six smaller sub groups to oversee progress on each of the individual themes that have set out in an action plan to improve the locality.
These themes are 1 Health & Social Care 2 Environment 3 Community & Culture 4 Education & Lifelong Learning 5 Community Safety 6 Business & Employment.

Newham Community and Police Forum: SO 19 Force Firearms Unit of the Police presented detailed topics at the Town Hall, East Ham.

The Prime Minister announced an increase in the national minimum wage in his monthly press conference. The adult rate of the minimum wage will increase from £4.85 to £5.05 in October this year - in line with average earnings - with a further six per cent increase to £5.35 in October 2006.This increase will benefit about 1.3m earners, he said.
Tony Blair said:"We will continue to run a strong and stable economy. But we will also continue to make work pay."

The Commission for Africa's report will be published on 11 March, the Prime Minister has announced.It will coincide with the Comic Relief charity fundraising day. July's G8 summit in Gleneagles will use the report as the basis for their talks on the future of the continent. The announcement followed the final meeting of the Commission, which was attended by campaigner Bob Geldof as well as prominent African politicians. Tony Blair told a news conference that it would be a report 'that's brutally frank about the reality, but I hope idealistic about what can be done if the will is there.
He added: "It's an ambitious project we have set ourselves and you will have to judge on its outcome when we publish it. What we have tried to do is to come together, commissioners from different parts of the world, different walks of life, to see if it's possible to reach a consensus of agreement on what can be done."

Striker Dobie seals Forest move
Scotland international striker Scott Dobie has completed his £525,000 move from Millwall to Nottingham Forest. The 26-year-old, who played under Forest boss Gary Megson at West Brom, has now signed a three-and-a-half-year deal at the City Ground.
Dobie told Forest's website: "I owe the gaffer so much - it's thanks to him that I played in the Premiership. "He also persuaded the management of the national team to give me the chance to play international football."

It was noted that 60 residential burglaries and 40 non residential, he added that there was a spate of shed burglaries 20 in the area. And also noted the majority of the motor vehicle crime was taking place on Ron Leighton Way.The main problems in East Ham at the moment are:

The hotspots for this activity were located around East Ham Station; people were being followed from the station to darker areas. The forum requested that an update on more serious crimes to be presented in the next meeting.

East Ham Fire station currently testing a new computer system for the Brigade which will interface with Newham council’s new NIMS systems to supply data to the general public. East Ham fire station is still totally committed to the Hazard house which the East ham Community Forum helped to finance.

Olympic fireworks spectacular for New Year’s Eve – London is to see in the New year with a spectacular Olympic-theme fire work display at midnight on 31st December 04. Tubes and buses will provide free transport throughout the night and central London. Congestion charge will be suspended on the New Year’s Eve.

£500 Boost for sport in schools – The government has announced a £500 boost for PE teaching and sports participation in schools. The additional funding will be use to give all children access to at least two hours of PE.

Jiju Yesudas, 25 years of age who has qualified as a Electronics Engineer in August and the son of Joyce Yesudas (sister of Jose Nelson) resident at Chaniyil House, Kackottumoola. Jiju will be starting his new career as an Electronics & Communications Lecturer on 3rd January 2005 at Marbaslius Christian College of Engineering & Technology, Peeramade, Kerala.

Street crime has dropped from 119 to 116.
Burglary dropped from 129 to 87.
Motor crime dropped from 418 to 273.
There are more police officers now in the street and many more have been recruited.
