As stated above, no Interests were declared.

Elections

Dr Jaswant Singh introduced himself and explained his reasons for not standing as Chair and withdrawing his nomination in support of Jose Alexander.

Shiv Kumar Bagga also withdrew his nomination in support of Jose Alexander and on the basis that he was ruled out on a technicality as he was not a Newham Resident.

As a result, Jose Alexander is elected as Chair of East Ham Steering Group unopposed.

Shiv Kumar Bagga raised a point of order, stating candidates should have been allowed to introduce themselves and say their speeches before any voting took place.

The selection of Vice Chair and Civic Partnership Rep will take place at the forums first Steering Group Meeting by the new Members of the Steering Group.

Budget Report (Lead Officer)

Budget accepted by the forum

Civic Partnership Report (Outgoing CP Rep)

Shiv Kumar Bagga explained his role on the Civic Partnership, and the role of the LSP and its main function to make Strategic decisions. It is important to have a rep on this committee so vital information can be relayed back to the forums.

Headline news for the previous year was highlighted, ie, discussions on events like Big Sunday and Under the Stars.

In addition, discussions about how to get involved with 2012 have taken place. Issues surrounding the ownership, the legacy, youth, education, volunteers, engaging and the day-to-day issues have been raised. It is important that voices are heard, and everyone knows what plans are in place.

Information can be obtained on the website, or attend forum meetings to ask further questions.

Chairs Report (Outgoing Chair)

Councillor Shah welcomed and thanked everyone who attended the AGM and congratulated Jose Alexander on being elected as the new Chair of East Ham CF.

The forum has been extremely busy over 2005-06 and a lot of hard work has been put in. There have been Steering Group Meetings, Public Meetings focusing on 'Crime Disorder Reduction Partnership' and 'PCT & Health Services' and Walkabouts.

In addition, events were organised for the forum, such as the Community Planting Day and the Dance Festival. The Dance Festival took place in December 2005 and due to the huge success, the forum is planning to arrange another festival this December.

A personal thank you went to Malek Ullah who was a residential rep on the steering group who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Councillor Shah encouraged people to get involved at the forums, and thanked her fellow Councillors and CPU.

Closing Remarks (Newly elected Chair of Forum)

Students from Brampton School took the floor raising their concerns about the lack of skateboarding facilities available in Newham. At the moment, they have to go out to neighbouring boroughs such as Barking, where incidents have occurred resulting concerns about their safety. With the 2012 Olympics in place, they would like to see more spaces and facilities developed for young people with a skateboarding interest as they feel that they are under represented at the forum.

ACTION:
It was agreed that they should make an appointment to discuss this with their Ward Councillor.

The Chair on behalf of East Ham Community Forum thanked everyone who attended the AGM and took part in all of the forums activities and hope that residents continue to support the forum and to engage functions.

Also, the forum thanked Cllr Shah (Lead Member), Cllr Omana Gangadharan, Cllr Mary Skyers, Cllr Unmesh Desai and CPU for their work in the forum.
